Alongside his brother, they created a group called “Heavenly Soundz” which catapulted him into creating his own original music. This original music consisted of relaxing instrumentals with a “smooth jazz” feel. They would play at weddings, prayer breakfasts, cookouts, gospel clubs, and community events. Without question his brother played a major role in the development of his talents.
Musicman Ty has always had a love for music and basketball. He knew that one of his talents would elevate him to higher levels. After receiving a full basketball scholarship to Pace University in New York City, he saw his opportunity to pursue his career as a musician in the Big Apple.
Still heavily influenced by his gospel roots, Musicman Ty is a music fan first and foremost, and he studies and works across all genres including Hip Hop, R&B, Pop, Dance, EDM, Reggae, Latin, Rock and Jazz.
By 2003, in conjunction with playing in numerous bands, including leading one called Autumn Band with Autumn Rowe, Musicman Ty began writing and producing heavily. After Musicman Ty met Swizz Beatz, he was quickly drafted in as a major part of his production team. Working with Swizz opened up doors for him to work with major brands such as Pepsi, Apple, Mercedes-Benz, Christian Louboutin, Tik Tok, Fornite, and many more. Musicman Ty has since expanded into the TV and Film markets. One of his biggest accomplishments is winning an Emmy award for The Godfather of Harlem’s theme song. He has also had placements on major network shows such as Empire, Love Craft Country, Love & HipHop, Good Morning America, Insecure, and many more. Two of his major film placements were in the movies Little and Book Smart.
His career has gone from strength to strength, with his extensive client list composed of a veritable who’s who in music, including huge international superstars, such as Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Beyoncé, Usher, Snoop Dogg, Ariana Grande, T-Pain, Jadakiss, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Diddy, French Montana, Jim Jones, Dipset, Dj Webstar, Jennifer Hudson, Whitney Houston, Robin Thicke, Shakira, Sean Paul, T.I, Estelle, Emeli Sandé, Romeo Santos, Toby Love, DJ Cassidy, Chipmunk, Mac Miller, $kinny, Vanessa Huggins, and Laura Izibor.
Branching out beyond the studio, Musicman Ty started MMT Entertainment in 2013. Creating his own music label gave him a platform to give new artists an opportunity to release their music and work with seasoned musicians. MMT signed their first artist Kelli Pyle, who released “In My DNA” for a major national brand collaboration with Monster headphones and Best Buy.
In 2015, the DJ brand Chrom3 Monk3ys was created by Musicman Ty and DJ Runna. While touring with Swizz Beatz, they began opening for his events and concerts worldwide. They began creating and producing music that blended cultures, helping them expand in the global music market. Developing their own lane when performing in top destinations such as London, China, Paris, Switzerland, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, and more.
Musicman Ty found a strong connection with Shisha culture during his travels. He was compelled to create the Shisha atmosphere everywhere he went. His newest venture Shisha Everywhere was started in 2021. He has utilized his influence in the music industry to curate global experiences bonding the music world with Shisha culture. Shisha Everywhere is a luxury lifestyle brand for hookah connoisseurs. With a global community, which inspires influencers and enthusiasts alike. The companies’ main goal is to curate one of a kind experiences to enrich the culture.
